About the Role

The Multimedia Communication Officer will join the Communications Unit at the WHO Regional Office for Africa.

The role will support audiovisual production, digital communications, leadership messaging, social media content and event coverage. The officer will work with technical teams and country offices to communicate public health information clearly and accurately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record interviews, statements, presentations, meetings, events and other audiovisual content.
  • Operate cameras, microphones, lighting and related production equipment.
  • Edit interviews, institutional videos, public health stories and event content.
  • Produce short-form videos for social media and digital platforms.
  • Add approved captions, subtitles, graphics, logos and other visual elements.
  • Prepare video thumbnails, social media graphics, quote cards and visual explainers.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of the communications studio.
  • Organize and archive raw footage, project files, photographs and final products.
  • Coordinate production schedules with communication officers and technical experts.
  • Support livestreamed, virtual and hybrid communication activities.
  • Ensure audiovisual content meets WHO editorial, technical, ethical and visual standards.

Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, International Relations or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience recording and editing professional video content.
  • Experience operating cameras, microphones and lighting equipment.
  • Experience editing interviews, institutional content or social media videos.
  • Experience preparing audiovisual content for digital platforms.
  • Basic graphic design and image-editing experience.
  • A relevant professional portfolio.
  • Proficiency in professional editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Working knowledge of motion graphics software such as Adobe After Effects or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of graphic design and image-editing applications.
  • Good knowledge of camera operation, sound recording, lighting and visual composition.
  • Understanding of video formats, codecs, compression and export settings.
  • Ability to prepare and review subtitles and captions.
  • Understanding of copyright, image rights, informed consent and ethical content production.
  • Fluency in English and French.
