About UNHCR
UNHCR works to protect and support refugees, internally displaced people and stateless persons. The Assistant Programme Officer will contribute to programme delivery and coordination in the Port Sudan operation.
Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Programme Officer will:
- Support needs assessments and programme planning using an age, gender and diversity approach.
- Assist with multi-year strategies, annual plans and programme priorities.
- Support Results-Based Management and the UNHCR Programme Management Cycle.
- Review programme plans, reports and implementation progress.
- Support partnerships with government institutions, NGOs and other stakeholders.
- Monitor partner performance and compliance with UNHCR requirements.
- Contribute to programme monitoring tools, systems and reporting.
- Support budgeting, resource allocation and financial management activities.
- Identify implementation challenges and recommend appropriate solutions.

Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A university degree in Economics, Business Administration, Social Sciences or another relevant field.
- At least one year of relevant experience with an undergraduate degree.
- Applicants with a graduate or doctoral degree may qualify without prior experience.
- Experience in programme management, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
- Knowledge of Results-Based Management and programme cycles.
- Experience with stakeholder and implementing partner coordination.
- Knowledge of humanitarian programming and partnership management.
- Strong analytical, organizational and report-writing skills.
- Good communication and presentation abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Experience with UNHCR, the United Nations, NGOs or humanitarian programmes in refugee or IDP settings is an advantage.
Knowledge of UNHCR programme and financial systems, risk-based monitoring, partner compliance, community-based programming and Age, Gender and Diversity approaches will also be beneficial.
