About WFP

The World Food Programme is a United Nations organization focused on emergency assistance, food security and resilience. In Chad, WFP supports vulnerable communities through food assistance, livelihoods, nutrition, school meals and climate resilience programmes.

Key Responsibilities

The successful consultant will:

  • Support the design and implementation of integrated resilience programmes.
  • Provide technical guidance on livelihoods, food systems and climate adaptation.
  • Support watershed and landscape-based approaches, including nature-based solutions.
  • Help develop projects for resource mobilization and donor support.
  • Strengthen collaboration with government institutions and programme partners.
  • Develop partnerships with UN agencies, NGOs, academia and research institutions.
  • Provide advice on programme policies, planning, implementation and monitoring.
  • Support food security, nutrition and livelihood programming at national and sub-national levels.
  • Promote WFP’s leadership in resilience, food security and livelihood forums.
  • Advocate for resources for resilience and climate-related projects.
  • Support training and capacity development for WFP staff and partners.
  • Lead and develop programme teams while ensuring effective use of financial resources.

The role will also involve frequent field visits and independent management of integrated resilience projects.

Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Advanced university degree in Agriculture, Forestry, Rural Development, Environmental Science or a related field.
  • A first university degree may be accepted with additional relevant experience or training.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience with a master’s degree.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience working with government agencies at national or sub-national level.
  • Experience with UN agencies, international organizations or NGOs.
  • Experience working in a Country Office or equivalent technical position.
  • Experience engaging experts in resilience, livelihoods and climate-related programmes.
  • Experience leading a programme team or substantial component of a complex programme.
  • Direct field experience with resilience and livelihood programme approaches.
  • Experience managing resilience programmes in the Sahel is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and spoken French.
  • Ability to work in English.
