Key Responsibilities
The Data Specialist will:
- Develop and maintain databases and data collection systems.
- Analyse structured and unstructured data to identify trends and patterns.
- Develop data analysis, reporting and quality-control processes.
- Create dashboards, reports and data visualization tools for decision-makers.
- Identify suitable data sources and opportunities to improve analytics processes.
- Extract, transform and manage data from different sources.
- Establish documentation standards for data requirements and methodologies.
- Work with other teams to obtain data and understand information needs.
- Monitor developments in data analytics tools and best practices.
- Deliver data analytics training and workshops for different audiences.
Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Information Management, Data Management, Information Systems, Information Science or a related quantitative field.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field may be accepted with two additional years of qualifying experience.
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis, data engineering or data science.
- Knowledge of data structures, statistical methods and data manipulation.
- Knowledge of the full data lifecycle, including collection, wrangling, analysis, visualization, deployment, monitoring and reporting.
- Knowledge of database management and data extraction and transformation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to different audiences.
- Strong collaboration, planning and organizational skills.
Experience with SQL, Python and R is desirable. Experience developing technical training programmes and performing quality assurance on analytical outputs is also an advantage.
